Hi, VIPs! Thanks for joining me behind the velvet ropes.

I created this week’s tarot spread with Wednesday’s Leo Full Moon in mind. In my Week Ahead Forecast yesterday, I wrote that the Leo-Aquarius axis has a lot to teach one another, and that’s true, but they also have a lot to teach us. It wasn’t until I sat down to write this post that I really understood how much.

The 1st and 7th Houses in astrology deal with the Self and Other, respectively. However, if you’ve ever had a consultation with me or heard me speak about our relationship with the Other, you know that within our relationship with the Other is our relationship with the Self.

Our relationship with ourselves is by far the most important one we can foster, and yet, especially when we become parents, it’s also the easiest one to neglect. We forget our likes and dislikes, interests and hobbies, and the magic and personalities that made us so interesting and unique in our younger days seem to evaporate faster than American democracy in February 2025 as soon as we pick up a diaper bag.

If we become career-driven, those special interests will still be paused. We feel at the beck and call of our jobs, our bosses and employers, or the small business owner who might be interested in contracting us down the road. We forget how to say no, so our ability to say yes becomes instinctual. And then, it becomes survival.

If our boss is male, he may treat us respectfully and even enjoy our company. When they invite us to luncheons or corporate mixers, it’s probably still a male-dominated experience that includes beer, wings, and sports.

And, especially if you grew up in Pittsburgh, you learn early on to enjoy football, hockey… and, I guess, baseball, too. Those activities take priority over other experiences on Sundays or Tuesday nights. Everything else takes a backseat. So, if you’re like I was, your love of literature and poetry, art and science, was curbed because to “fit in,” you had to know what play the Steelers OC would call on 3rd and 8.

I was mocked for my interest in the esoteric. Other kids in the middle school library called me weird when I took out books about the paranormal or decided to read them during recess instead of standing outside gossiping. It bothered me when I tried to talk about faith and religion with Christian friends in high school because when I asked specific questions, it seemed like they were gatekeeping information from me.
